Students take field trip to Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

Students in Charles Barfield’s Culture Class took a field trip to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to view up-close the works of famous artists, painters and, sculptors who they have been studying in class this past semester. Senior spruces up computer lab with hand-painted mural

Senior and artist Graham Olsen decided that he would share his talents with Brook Road Academy and paint a mural on the wall of the school’s computer lab. Graham is looking to pursue his passion for art at a two-year school next fall. His attention to detail is amazing!

Students give back to Richmond animal shelter

Through the Career and Transition Services (CATS) of St. Joseph's Villa, Brook Road Academy students have begun volunteering with Richmond Animal Care and Control. Students help the shelter provide care to adoptable pets while learning valuable job skills and about careers working with animals. Guitar Club launches at Brook Road

Brook Road Academy held its first Guitar Club meeting with volunteer and VCU Music School graduate Justin Smith.  This weekly club is open to students of all skill levels who are interested in learning to play different styles of music, use proper techniques, and play in an ensemble. We're pleased to offer Guitar Club to our school's growing list of extracurricular opportunities.  It's gotten a great response from students!

SunTrust volunteers teach lessons in financial literacy

New student-driven school newsletter launches

We're proud to introduce the Brook Road Beat, our school newsletter with the latest news straight from our students and faculty.  Participating students are given the opportunity to reflect on the lessons they've learned in class and put those thoughts into written words for publication.  They did a great job! Students learn about music industry on field trip to In Your Ear studio

Students toured In Your Ear music studio and met with composer/studio owner Carlos Chafin to learn about careers in the music industry.  They learned about scoring soundtracks for film and video games, studio equipment, and recording and editing live music.
