From Elif Kalemdaroglu, Head of Brook Road Academy
We had a great visit to the Black History Museum! Here are a few pictures:
College Bound: Congratulations to Marielle on her college acceptance!!!! We are proud of your hard work.
New Faculty Member: We are glad to announce that Mrs. Martinez will be joining us to teach Spanish and International Studies. Mrs. Martinez speaks Spanish and Portuguese, and has extensive experience in political science.
Modlin Center for Performing Arts: Reminder, our students will travel to UofR for a dance performance. We will leave at 9:15 and return around 12:15. We will lunch upon our return. https://tickets.modlin.richmond.edu/2880/2882
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE DAY: Mark your calendars… March 4th, 12-3:30 pm. Here is the link to sign up for conferences.
Grading Policy: Students need to turn in their missing assignments and late work by the end of each week. Teachers are not required to accept late work for students that are in attendance.
Cell phones: Cell phones need to be off and away. We are not in the habit of requiring cell phones to be turned in; however, we have been addressing students increasingly regarding their cell phones and electronics.
GALAXYCON: Here is an exciting event that many of our students would enjoy. Unfortunately, the dates are Friday-Sunday and the hours do not fit out school schedule; however, I am sure our kids would enjoy it. I plan to take mine on Friday. Perhaps, I will run into some of our Brook Road Academy families?
Thursdays: Please join us in our yoga session after school on Thursdays. We welcome students, parents, alumni, and staff.
2/28/20: This Friday we will have clubs between 1-3pm. Students will have a chance to choose a different club. As a reminder, students that may have had discipline infractions are not eligible to participate in clubs activities.
3/4/2020 – Noon dismissal. Student led parent/teacher/student conferences.
